Rupert Neve Designs MBC Master Buss Converter

The Rupert Neve Designs MBC (Master Buss Converter) is a professional stereo A/D converter with integrated analog limiter and analog drive circuitry, designed for high-end mixing, mastering and recording environments. It combines a discrete Class-A analog signal path with reference-grade 24-bit/192 kHz conversion for extremely accurate digital capture of analog audio.

A defining feature of the MBC is its dual-path input architecture, allowing engineers to select either a transformerless Class-A signal path for pristine transparency or a transformer-coupled path with Rupert Neve’s custom transformers for enhanced analog tone and weight.

The unit also includes an Active Compound Release Analog Limiter, designed to control peaks and allow hotter levels to be captured without digital clipping or artifacts.

Sound Character

The MBC delivers exceptionally accurate digital conversion while allowing optional analog coloration.

The transformerless path offers pristine transparency ideal for mastering-grade conversion, while the transformer path introduces the classic Rupert Neve character with additional depth and harmonic complexity.

The integrated Silk Red / Silk Blue circuit with Texture control allows users to dial in harmonic saturation ranging from subtle warmth to stronger analog coloration.

The analog limiter can be used transparently to control peaks or creatively to add punch and cohesion to mixes.
