The M. Zähl EQ1 500 Stereo-EQ is a high-end fully analog 4-band stereo equalizer in API 500 format, based on the legendary circuitry of the Zähl AM1 studio console. Designed for demanding recording, mixing, and summing applications, it delivers outstanding sound quality and flexibility in a compact module.
Its discrete analog design features proportional-Q behavior, meaning the bandwidth becomes narrower as gain is increased—allowing both musical shaping and precise corrections. Each band offers multiple selectable frequencies and a gain range of ±12 dB, providing a wide range of tonal control.
The EQ’s flexibility is further enhanced by switchable filter types: high and low bands can operate as shelving or bell filters, while the mid bands feature different tonal characteristics for varied sonic textures.
