Heritage Audio LANG P.LANE Type 436
The Heritage Audio LANG P.LANE Type 436 is a single-channel, all-tube Vari-Mu compressor that reimagines the legendary modified ALTEC 436C circuits in a modern format. Developed in collaboration with LANG Electronics, it recreates the iconic “British Invasion” sound of the 1960s with authentic tube saturation and musical compression behavior.
Built around a fully analog design with carefully selected tubes and custom transformers, the P.LANE 436 combines vintage tone with modern usability for today’s studio workflows.
Sound Character
The P.LANE Type 436 delivers smooth, musical, and organic Vari-Mu compression.
Its program-dependent response provides natural dynamic control without compromising transients or high-frequency detail. The low end remains full and stable, while mids and highs gain depth and presence through subtle tube coloration.
This results in a cohesive, glue-like compression ideal for both subtle shaping and more pronounced vintage character.
